In addition to our wide-reaching experience UGB has been working to bring the latest in building sciences to use in the industry. We've embraced stat-of-the-art technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3-D Printing in our efforts to advance and improve project execution. When you partner with us you'll have access to these industry leading tools and our team of experts - ensuring the best quality for your vision.
Building information modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Current BIM software is used by in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of diverse physical infrastructures, such as: water, wastewater, electricity, gas, refuse and communication utilities, roads, bridges, ports, tunnels, etc. It is a combination of multiple disciplines - using an object-oriented building development tool that utilizes 5-D modeling concepts, information technology and software interoperability to design, construct and operate a building project, as well as communicate its details.
At UGB, we are fortunate to be one of the few steel manufacturers in the world to be able to use 3D printing in our manufacturing process. The process allows us to create a 3D object via printing. Computers are used to literally print layer upon layer of material, to create a 3D object. The advantages include quicker construction, lower labor costs, and less waste produced.
